SUMMARY:Winter Masterclass with Pianist Vladimir Rumyanstev
DESCRIPTION:Bronx School for Music presents a masterclass with pianist Vladimir Rumyantsev. \nJoin us at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Woodlawn on Wednesday\, December 10th from 6–8 PM for this unique learning experience\, as Mr. Rumyantsev shares his artistry and insight with our school community. \nThe masterclass will begin with a 15-minute solo piano performance by Mr. Rumyantsev. Following the performance\, selected students from the school will be invited to perform and receive live coaching in front of their peers. \nAll are welcome to attend and observe! \nAbout Vladimir Rumyanstev \nVladimir Rumyantsev is an internationally revered pianist\, known for his virtuosity and ability to interpret the piano’s vast repertoire. His talent emerged early and at just seven years old\, he made his debut at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory where he won Moscow’s Glinka competition. \nRumyantsev received his foundational training at the Gnessin Moscow Special School for Music under Mikhail Khokhlov and later studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Sergey Dorensky\, Alexander Bakhchiev\, Elena Sorokina\, Pavel Nersessian and Nikolai Lugansky. He completed his advanced degrees at the Mannes School of Music in New York under Prof. Pavlina Dokovska and is currently pursuing his DMA at The Hartt School under the mentorship of Jose Ramos Santana. \nRumyantsev has performed all of the world at such prestigious venues as the Moscow Philharmonic\, Carnegie Hall\, Covent Garden\, the Mariinsky Theatre\, New York City Center\, The Kennedy Center\, the Great Guild in Riga\, the Dzintari Concert Hall and the Bolshoi Theatre including several theaters in China\, participating in such renowned festivals as the Golden Mask Festival in Moscow\, the Bermuda Piano Festival\, The Art of Piano Duo in Boston\, IKIF and the Mannes Summer Piano Festival in New York. His performances of Shostakovich and Stravinsky Concertos led to collaborations with the Mariinsky Ballet\, under the batons of Valery Gergiev and Boris Gruzin. \nIn 2024 he recorded “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” by Sean Hickey for piano solo\, which is set for release in early 2025 by Sono Luminus. Most recently\, Rumyantsev toured the world as a solo artist with Twyla Tharp Dance for her Diamond Jubilee. \nIn 2025 he began an artistic collaboration with Skylar Brandt\, principal ballerina with American Ballet Theatre\, combining piano and dance in their concert series That’s How We Met

DESCRIPTION:Now in its fourth year\, Bronx School for Music’s annual Student Recital highlights the dedication and growth of students in private instrumental instruction. This year\, BSM will be moving the performances indoors to the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Woodlawn. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of incredible music performed by Bronx School for Music’s talented faculty members. The concert will take place at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx. Come and enjoy a night of beautiful melodies and impressive performances in an intimate venue with acoustics that beautifully enwrap the nuance of each piece. Tickets will be available soon for purchase. Adult admission is $25\, student admission is $10. \n6:30 PM: Performance begins\n8:30 PM: Post Concert Reception/Drinks/S’mores at our school \nAll proceeds from the performance will be used to provide scholarships for students in need of financial assistance.
