Admission

Bronx School for Music offers private and group music lessons to children and adults of the Bronx community. Students must be at least five years old to be eligible for private lessons. Students under the age of 5 must first take our Early Childhood Music Development Classes.

Students are accepted at all levels, from beginners with no experience to advanced students. BSM offers in-person and virtual lessons.

Admission to Bronx School for Music does not require any special applications or supplementary documentation. Simply complete BSM’s online registration form, make a payment online, and a representative from our administrative office will be in touch to assign students to a lesson time and to the appropriate group musical-development courses.

If you miss BSM’s registration period at the start of each semester, do not worry! Students are admitted on a rolling basis, and we accept new students as long as there is room in our teachers’ schedules. New students who register after a new semester has already begun should contact the administrative office and schedule a time to register by phone. Lesson Scheduling

Lesson times are determined after registration is completed and submitted. Priority for lesson times is given to returning students or students currently enrolled. Lesson times for new students are assigned on a first-come-first-served basis. Although we try our best to accommodate students’ lesson-time preferences, lesson schedules are at or near capacity and preferred availability may be limited.

Tuition and Fees

Spring Semester Tuition:

• 30-Minute Private Lesson: $510 (17 weeks at $30 per lesson)
• 60-Minute Private Lesson: $935 (17 weeks at $55 per lesson)
• 45-Minute Early Childhood Music Class: $240 (12 weeks at $20 per class)
• 60-Minute Beginner Group Guitar Class: $510 (17 weeks at $30 per class)
• 60-Minute Rock Band Class: $510 (17 weeks at $30 per class)
• 60 Minute Guitar Technique Class: $510 (17 weeks at $30 per class)

Registration Fee: $35 per student

Tuition Installment Plan:

Students or their parents/guardians must pay tuition in full in order to register for lessons.

For students unable to pay tuition in full at the start of each semester, BSM’s payment-deferral plan allows students to pay an initial installment of half the semester’s tuition, registration fees, and the $20 installment fee. The second payment is due by the eighth week of the semester, and will be automatically billed to the credit card on file.

Payment methods: We accept payments in cash, credit card, debit card, money order, ACH transfer or Zelle. Those wishing to pay for lessons with cash, money order, ACH transfer or Zelle should contact the administrative office and register over the phone. Students or families who register and sign up for the tuition-installment plan must pay by credit or debit card online.
