Terms of Enrollment (Please read and check agree at the bottom)

  1. Tuition, Registration Fees & Payment Terms

A non-refundable $35 registration fee is payable upon registration for each student that is enrolled. This fee is charged per student every time a student registers for lessons.

If the Bronx School for Music reaches capacity in its programs and space for private lessons is expected to reach capacity at the startg of a semester, the school has the right to request a non-refundable deposit of $100 for securing private lesson placement in the Fall or Spring terms. This $100 deposit will be applied to tuition for the start of a term.

Payment of tuition for all Bronx School for Music’s programs is due upon registration and all students who register must provide a payment method for tuition when they register in our online customer system. Tuition is paid at the completion of registration and must be paid online via credit or debit card on the Bronx School for Music’s e-commerce website. If you wish to pay by check, cash, or money order, please contact the administrative office to schedule an appointment for in-person registration.

Tuition can be paid in full or individuals/families can elect to pay in installments. Individuals/families that register after the start of the semester for private lessons will have their tuition pro-rated for registration that occurs after the second week of the semester. The Bronx School for Music reserves the right to cancel any lessons due to insufficient enrollment or delinquent payments.

The installment payment plans that are offered are listed at checkout and are based on the total amount that customers have in their checkout cart. The remaining tuition is due by the date(s) that is/are provided at registration. If the remaining tuition balance is not paid by the due date(s), student’s enrollment may be suspended, and they may not be able to continue lessons unless the balance is paid. The payer will provide their payment information to the Bronx School for Music at the time of their first payment and authorizes the Bronx School for Music to debit their credit or debit card on the due date and for future installments.

The Bronx School for Music is not responsible for reminding customers about upcoming payments. If the payment method that a customer provides at registration does not process on the due date, a $35 late fee will be applied to the customer’s account. In addition, by agreeing to the Bronx School for Music’s payment plan terms, the customer authorizes the Bronx School for Music to re-attempt processing a payment method on file every month until the payment is cleared. If the Bronx School for Music is unable, after multiple attempts, to collect payment the customer or student may be banned from enrolling at the Bronx School for Music until their outstanding balance is cleared.

For the full terms regarding the payment plans offered, please see the installment plan policy document.

  1. Missed & Cancelled Classes, Student Illness & Zoom lessons

Make-up lessons are offered for any lesson missed by the teacher or cancelled by the school. If make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled by faculty or the school, credits/refunds will be applied. Parents and students are responsible for any missed classes and teachers are not required to make up lessons that are missed or cancelled by students. If students miss three or more lessons consecutively without notification or written communication to the school, their time slot may be rescheduled with another student and their enrollment may be suspended without refund.

Students who cannot attend lessons in-person due to illness or injury may request up to two Zoom lessons in the Fall/Spring terms and one Zoom lesson in the summer term. Requests for Zoom lessons may be denied if teachers or studios do not have the appropriate technological infrastructure to host a Zoom lesson and teachers are not required to make-up lessons that students cannot attend in-person.

In order to be considered for Zoom make-up lessons, students, their parents and/or their legal guardians must notify the administrative office and their assigned teacher via email at least 24 hours prior to their regularly scheduled lesson time. The Bronx School for Music will not offer Zoom lessons in any other circumstance and all students must attend lessons in-person unless a public health emergency is announced.

  1. Withdrawal and Discontinuance

Students or parents wishing to withdraw from the program must notify the administrative office in writing via email. Please contact the administrative office if you have any questions about withdrawal. Telephone inquiries must be followed up and a written notice. Withdrawal notices must be sent to info@bronxschoolformusic.org.

Refunds for withdrawal are only granted through the 8th week of a 17-week fall/spring term or the 2nd week of a summer term. If a student withdraws past these periods, refunds will not be granted. For student withdrawals that occur during the permissible windows for refunds, a $35 withdrawal fee will be deducted from any refunds due.

The Bronx School for Music reserves the right to suspend any student whose behavior is unsatisfactory; this includes frequent absences (two or more consecutive absences without notice), tardiness, disruptive behavior, or failure to observe the authority of teachers or administrators. In such cases, tuition refunds for remaining weeks will be assessed according to the withdrawal policy.

  1. Instrument and Student Material Policy

Students are required to purchase instruments and materials necessary for study by the second week of enrollment. Failure to purchase instruments and materials may result in disqualification from study at the Bronx School for Music. Teachers will notify the administrative office of any student’s failure to meet these requirements and will discuss with the students/parents the steps necessary to continue study. For information about where to rent or purchase instruments, please contact the administrative office or your private teacher.
