Violin & Viola

New York based Violist Adam Kramer regularly concertizes in and around the city as an orchestral, chamber, and solo musician. Performances include appearances at the Morgan Library, the Frick Collection, the Neue Galerie, solo recitals at Mannes, select concerts of the Mannes Sounds festival, Carnegie hall, and Lincoln Center. Recent collaborations include distinguished artists Benjamin Hochman, Vladimir Feltsman, Kaija Saariaho, and JoAnn Falletta.

Mr. Kramer Holds a BM and MM from the Mannes College of Music at The New School. Teachers include Ira Weller, Daniel Panner, Adria Benjamin, and chamber music with members of the Orion Quartet. Masterclasses appearances include artists such as Geraldine Walther, Toby Appel, Heidi Castleman, Genn Dicterow and others. During his time at Mannes Mr. Kramer spent several years as acting principal viola.

In an effort to expand the viola repertoire, Mr. Kramer works closely, and often, with living composers. Most notably, his commission of Julian Bennet Holmes’ Viola Sonata helped Mr. Holmes place as a finalist in the 2016 International Antonin Dvorak Composition Competition. Internationally, Kramer has performed extensively in Quebec, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Italy.
