Piano
Pianist and educator Annie Wang began studying piano at the age of five. Her decision to pursue a career in music came during her junior year of high school, when she toured Italy with the Princeton High School Orchestra. She later made her solo debut with the orchestra, performing Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor. Annie studied piano performance and creative nonfiction writing at The New School, earning her Bachelor of Music from the Mannes School of Music under the tutelage of Vladimir Valjarević.
Annie began teaching piano privately during her freshman year of college. Almost immediately, she decided she had found her calling—helping students develop confidence and a lasting love of music. Many of her students have continued their musical studies by participating in their middle and high school bands and orchestras. Annie specializes in preparing students for NYSSMA and ABRSM evaluations—however, beyond examinations and assessments, she believes that nurturing a genuine passion for music is of the utmost importance.
Annie is currently pursuing post-baccalaureate K–12 certification in music education at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. In addition to her work as a pianist, she holds First Steps in Music certification through the Feierabend Association for Music Education and is pursuing Kodály certification in the summer at The Hartt School, University of Hartford. She firmly believes in the multifaceted nature of music education and the importance of providing every student with a well-rounded musical curriculum.
