Kiera Peppers
Early Childhood Music Teacher & Program Coordinator
Kiera is a certified music teacher and illustrator from the Northeast Bronx. Her musical journey began at age six, when her brother sat her down at their uncle’s piano and taught her how to play “Heart and Soul.” From that moment, she eagerly learned songs by ear, improvised her own pieces, and discovered a lifelong love of sharing music with others. At 17, she began formal piano studies, performing annually in recitals over for seven years.
Kiera earned her associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Hostos Community College and her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood/Special Education and Psychology from New York University. She has also pursued graduate studies in Music and Music Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Before joining the Bronx School for Music, Kiera spent six years teaching elementary general music in the South Bronx, developing a multi-sensory and thematic approach that helps children experience music as a natural part of daily life. Since Fall 2023, she has served as Early Childhood Music Faculty at BSM and, more recently, as Program Coordinator. In this role, she has helped expand the Early Childhood Music Program, which now reaches families at the school as well as in local preschools and local institutions.
Kiera feels privileged to serve her hometown through BSM and to help lay the musical foundations for the youngest members of the Bronx community.
