Brooklyn-based classical guitarist and composer Louis Mitten brings a rich and diverse musical background to his teaching and performances. Born in Tampa, Florida, Louis discovered his passion for the guitar at the age of five. He made his debut playing in pop and rock bands throughout the Tampa Bay area. He began his classical guitar studies under the mentorship of John Parris and Thomas Coffey, and later earned a degree in Guitar Performance from Florida State University, studying with esteemed guitarists Bruce Holzman and Celso Cano.
While at FSU, Louis expanded his knowledge of guitar pedagogy, gaining experience in teaching, performing, and perfecting his artistry. Now based in Brooklyn, Louis is an active performer, instructor, and competitor, sharing his passion for classical guitar across New York City and beyond. He has competed in prestigious international classical guitar competitions, earning recognition for his artistry and technical skill.
Louis combines his performance experience with a thoughtful, student-centered teaching approach. He continues inspiring musicians of all levels to develop their skills and explore their creativity.
