Viona Sanjaya

Piano

Viona Sanjaya is an Indonesian-born pianist whose expressive artistry and technical skill have made her a rising star in the classical music world. She recently graduated with honors from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with a full scholarship, studying under Prof. Ning An and Dr. Thomas Hecht. In recognition of her achievements, Viona received the Guy Hentsch Prize in Piano Performance. She is now pursuing a Master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music, under the guidance of the esteemed Yefim Bronfman.

Viona’s performances have earned her several awards and accolades, including 2nd prize at the 2024 Indonesia International Piano Competition, 1st prize in the 2019 National JCoM Piano Competition, and winner of the YST Concerto Competition in 2022. She has had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with prominent orchestras, including the Jakarta Sinfonietta and the Orchestra of the Music Makers in Singapore. Along the way, she has had masterclasses with renowned pianists like Támas Ungár, Steven Spooner, Rafael Luszczewski, and Ilya Rashkovskiy, among others. Other than solo performances, she enjoys performing duo piano and chamber repertoire. Her concert career has taken her to some of the most celebrated venues in the world, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Sydney Opera House, and the Esplanade Theatres by the Bay in Singapore. Viona has also been recognized by prestigious music organizations, receiving awards from the Singapore Music Teachers Association, the Sydney Eisteddfod, and the ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition.

In addition to her classical piano career, Viona is an accomplished Electone player. She represented Indonesia at multiple Asia Pacific Electone Festivals and the Yamaha Electone Concours, and in 2018, she had the honor of performing her original composition at the International Junior Original Concert.

Outside of music, Viona enjoys reading, creating vlogs, and knitting. She brings the samw passion and creativity to these hobbies as she does to her music, constantly seeking to grow and connect with the world in new ways.
